My Teaching Style

In my classes, I share multiple approaches to each movement, emphasizing the underlying mechanics that make them effective. Understanding the “why” behind the movements helps create more authentic expression and technical precision.

Finger cymbals are an important part of my teaching as well. This distinctive element of belly dance adds both musical complexity and traditional depth to our practice. Learning to play while dancing challenges both sides of the brain and expands your abilities as a performer.

My sessions balance fun with technical growth. We work with various musical rhythms and genres, developing both dancing skills and musical accompaniment abilities. While my classes are certainly challenging, the satisfaction of progress makes every drop of sweat worthwhile.

I love exploring different methods of expression in my teaching. By thoughtfully incorporating elements from ballet, jazz, modern dance and other western dance styles into belly dance, we can discover new dimensions of movement and storytelling.

Continuous Learning

I believe that even as a teacher, I’m always a student first. I’ve studied extensively with my mentor Kitiera of Seattle and with Suhaila Salimpour, while continuously seeking opportunities to learn from other respected professionals in our field including Karim Nagi, Sabriye Tekbilek, Ozgen, Aubre Hill, Amel Tafsout, Zoe Jakes, Ruby Beh, Shahrzad, Sadie, and many others.

In 2019, I was honored to place 2nd in the Professional CD Category at the La Danse Orientale Competition – an achievement that reflected my ongoing commitment to growth and excellence in this art form.
